About the role:


The UX Designer will play a pivotal role in understanding user needs, defining intuitive workflows, and creating engaging interfaces that cater to the unique preferences and behaviours of African consumers.

This role requires a blend of creativity, empathy, and technical expertise to deliver seamless digital experiences that empower users to achieve their financial goals.


Key Responsibilities:


  • User Research and Insights:
  • Conduct user research activities, including surveys, interviews, usability testing, and persona development, to gain deep insights into the needs, preferences, and pain points of African users.
  • Analyse user feedback, behavioural data, and market trends to inform UX design decisions and prioritise feature enhancements.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to advocate for usercentered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Information Architecture and Wireframing:
  • Define clear information architecture and navigation structures that facilitate intuitive user journeys and task completion.
  • Develop lowfidelity and highfidelity wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mockups to visualise design concepts and gather stakeholder feedback.
  • Iterate on design solutions based on user testing results, usability best practices, and business requirements.
  • Visual Design and Branding:
  • Create visually appealing and cohesive interface designs that align with the brand identity and resonate with African users across diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Design intuitive user interfaces (UI) for mobile and web platforms, considering factors such as typography, colour theory, iconography, and layout composition.
  • Ensure consistency and accessibility across all design elements, including buttons, forms, modals, and error states.
  • Interaction Design and Microinteractions:
  • Define interactive components and microinteractions that enhance user engagement, feedback, and delight within the app experience.
  • Design seamless transitions, animations, and gestures to guide users through complex workflows and reinforce positive interactions.
  • Collaborate with developers to implement interactive prototypes and maintain design fidelity during the development process.
  • Usability Testing and Optimisation:
  • Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of design solutions among target users.
  • Collect and analyse usability metrics, user behaviour patterns, and task completion rates to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.
  • Iterate on design iterations based on user feedback, usability findings, and business objectives to continuously enhance the user experience.
  • Crossfunctional Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, marketers, and other stakeholders to align on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communicate design concepts, rationale, and best practices effectively to internal teams and external partners.
  • Foster a culture of design excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the organisation.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Graphic Design, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience of 8+ years in UX/UI design roles, preferably in the FINTEC or digital banking industry.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar software.
  • Solid understanding of usability principles, information architecture, interaction design, and usercentered design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, responsive design principles, and internationalisation/localisation considerations.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problemsolving skills.
  • Passion for user advocacy, empathy, and continuous improvement.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages spoken in African countries is a plus.
