JOB DESCRIPTION:

Cancard Inc is looking for an experienced, engaged, and hands-on healthcare technology leader for the position of Director, Software Engineering to help drive development, deployment, and management of an innovative portfolio of digital healthcare products for global markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.

Lead Design and Development:

• Spearhead the architecture, design, and development of advanced healthcare applications using Java and Angular, focusing on crafting scalable and efficient solutions that meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
• Apply best practices in software design patterns and coding standards to ensure the production of high-quality code.

Implementation of Healthcare Standards:

• Integrate and ensure compliance with healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 (Health Level Seven) and FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), to facilitate seamless data exchange and communication between different healthcare systems and applications.
• Work closely with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to understand clinical workflows and requirements, ensuring the developed solutions effectively address their needs.
• Microservice, AWS Cloud Design and Deployment:· Design cloud-native solutions and migrate existing applications to AWS, leveraging a range of AWS services to optimize for performance, reliability, security, and cost.· Implement robust security measures and data protection practices to safeguard sensitive healthcare information, adhering to HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
• Cross-functional Collaboration:· Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the software development life cycle to gather requirements, refine features, and troubleshoot issues.· Participate in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing to the continuous improvement of the team's processes and outputs.

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:

• Act as a mentor to junior developers, providing guidance and support in their professional development, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
• Lead by example in adopting new technologies and methodologies, encouraging innovation and experimentation.

Continuous Learning and Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in software engineering, healthcare technologies, and cloud computing, identifying opportunities to apply new tools and techniques to improve the product and development process.
• Initiate and lead efforts to improve code quality, performance, and scalability through code reviews, refactoring, and optimization.

Quality Assurance and Security Compliance:

• Work closely with the QA team to ensure the developed applications meet quality standards and user expectations through comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Ensure applications comply with industry-standard security practices, conducting regular security assessments and addressing vulnerabilities promptly.

Project Leadership:

• Take ownership of projects from inception to deployment, managing timelines, resources, and risks effectively to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Communicate project status, challenges, and achievements to stakeholders, facilitating transparency and alignment across the organization.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Programming Languages:
Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in healthcare interface development, such as:·Java·Angular2.


Healthcare Interoperability Standards:

Strong understanding and experience with healthcare interoperability standards, including:·HL7 (Health Level Seven)·FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources)·DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine)·IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) profiles3.

Interface Protocols and Technologies:

Familiarity with interface protocols and technologies used in healthcare data exchange, such as:·RESTful APIs·SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)·Web services·Messaging standards (e.g., MLLP, WebSockets)4.

Healthcare Information Systems:
Hands-on experience with various healthcare information systems, including:·Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR)·Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)·Radiology Information Systems (RIS)·Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)·Billing and Claims Systems

Database Technologies:

Proficiency in database technologies commonly used in healthcare applications, such as:·SQL (Structured Query Language)·NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)·Data warehousing and analytics platforms6.

Security and Compliance:

Understanding of healthcare data security and compliance requirements, including:·HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)·GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)·HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act)·Data encryption and authentication protocols7.

Version Control Systems:
Experience with version control systems for managing code repositories and collaborative development, such as:·Git·Subversion (SVN)·Mercurial8.


Agile Methodologies:
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and practices, including:·Scrum·Kanban·Sprint planning and retrospectives9.

Integration Tools:

Knowledge of integration tools and platforms commonly used in healthcare settings, such as:·Mirth Connect·Cloverleaf Integration Suite·Interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Corepoint)10.

Healthcare Terminologies and Code Sets:
Understanding of healthcare terminologies and code sets used for clinical documentation and data exchange, such as:·SNOMED CT·ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision)·LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes)CPT (Current Procedural Terminology)


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Computer Science Engineering with minimum 5 years' experience with designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting large scale cloud solutions.
• Expert level programming knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Restful and SOAP API's, Microservices, and other back-end, deployment technologies.
• Prefer candidates with experience in US healthcare interoperability, HL7 and FHIR standards.
• Working knowledge of front-end technologies, Angular 10, React, and other JavaScript frameworks like
• Experience in working on products that meet HITRUST and SOC 2 security standards.
• Strong training entire software development lifecycle while adopting an Agile approach.
• Ability to diagnose issues and respond in a timely fashion to contain major breakdowns is required.
