Enterprise Architecture's mission is to design and operate the Capabilities and Platforms that will support Northern Trust's clients for the next decade.

This product owner role is focused on IT Asset Management (ITAM) process governance, specifically around Shadow IT and Open Source management.

Shadow IT is focused on detecting unauthorized software and hardware assets running in the environment and then working with asset owners to triage them.

Open Source governance is focused on providing oversight of the open source software running in our environment.

This role will work closely with key ITAM stakeholders and executive leaders to maintain and run the processes for Shadow IT and Open Source governance.

Good understanding of IT Asset Management practices, in particular Shadow IT and Open Source Strong product ownership skills Self-motivated, clear communicator who can govern these practices, working with managed service provider to run and operate these core processes


Expertise- Excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills- Flexibility to changes in work direction as projects/requirements develop with strong problem-solving skills- Proven product owner who is focused on delivering continuous improvements to their customers- Experienced IT Asset Management leader, with skills across technology asset life cycle (whether digital technology, information, financial or physical assets), best practice governance, tools and services- Experience with IT Asset Management tools such as Flexera or ServiceNow- Understand how data is tracked and managed in a CMDB- Experience in identifying shadow IT assets using Microsoft Defender or similar platform- Governance accountability to ensure shadow IT assets get detected, triaged, removed or approved- Experience with identifying and tracking open source libraries with a Software Composition Analysis tool (e.g.

Checkmarx or CAST)- Governance accountability to ensure license violations or vulnerabilities identified in open source get remediated in a timely fashion

Major Duties

Product ownership of the Shadow IT and Open Source governance practices, including backlog management, delivery oversight of process improvements Lead the evaluation and implementation of process improvements, looking for opportunities for automation and minimize need for manual work Leverage managed service provider to operate the processes Collaborate with asset owners to triage asset changes / updates Manage risk of unauthorized or end of life assets Use metrics / KPIs to measure improvement and demonstrate risk reduction

Experience

Requires a college or university degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or MIS and/or relevant proven work experience. Minimum 2-3 years' experience in IT Asset Management specifically Proven product owner skills; ideally delivering in agile leveraging Azure DevOps / Boards or equivalent to manage the work
