About myNachiketa

myNachiketa Foundation is inspired by Nachiketa, a character in the Upanishads, who asks philosophical questions to Yama in his childhood.

We seek to bring the philosophical ideas and concepts in Hinduism to children in creative ways. We are designing innovative products including books, games, workshops, etc. to bring this knowledge to kids.

Our method is to encourage kids to question and think of various different ways of arriving at answers, rather than developing a regimented thought process.

Our goal is to reach every kid globally with this knowledge, help them critically reason and develop their own understanding based on exposure to various schools of Hindu philosophy.

Role:
Illustrator
We are developing a number of products like books, videos, content etc. related to Indian philosophy based on the knowledge encapsulated in the Vedas, Upanishads, and Gita. We are building a B2C online platform to bring our content to parents and children.

We are looking for a talented Illustrator to create original pieces of artwork for print and digital publications.

For this role, you will be the most important person who will take the ideas from the writer, creator of the books or videos and come up with creative illustration for it.

As an Illustrator, you get an opportunity to learn and contribute in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Also, you get complete freedom to do things to meet the objectives.

Responsibilties

Prepare rough drafts according to requirements shared by book writer, video creator etc
Combine handdrawing with digital media to create complete illustrations
Refine designs with illustration software as and when required
Use various colours, graphics and effects to better visualize each concept
Ensure that illustrations meet quality and colour standards
Brainstorm with the team to come up with new ideas, patterns and styles
Stay uptodate with new design techniques which are trending in the market

What we are looking for

Good verbal and written communication skills
Can work with startups or a fastpaced environment
Ability to multitask and prioritize things
Able to work under timelines/targets
Have a selfdriven "getting things done" attitude
Generate ideas and concepts that are clear, communicative, and visually engaging
Proficiency in Visual Design and its principles (Composition, Scale, and Color Theory amongst others, etc)
