Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and
the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The
hospital is governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with
well-trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical
equipment. The hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is
located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal.

Tata Medical Center (TMC) being one of the leading cancer hospitals in India is one of the best Blood Centre in the
country with the state-of-the-art facilities. The blood centre is operational since 2011, provides quality blood
products at government approved charges. This is one of the few NABH accredited blood centres in the eastern
part of the country and hence high quality standards are practiced at all times. At our institute, the transfusion
services are an integral component of treatment and management of cancer patients. The blood centre provides
quality blood products to patients by using most advanced technology for blood collection, processing and testing.
Medical Social Worker / Counsellor for the department of Blood Centre.
Job Description:
Blood donor recruitment and retention.
Arranging voluntary blood donors.
Communicating with the voluntary blood donor organizations/NGOs
Arranging blood donation camps.
Pre-donation counselling of donors to reduce the anxiety of donation.
During medical screening of donors to identify the high-risk behaviour in a blood donor and counselling of
donor by maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
Post-donation counselling about Dos and Don'ts to the donors.
Collecting donor feedback for each donation.
In case of TTI (HIV/HBV/HCV/Syphilis) positivity recalling the donor for counselling.
Referring the reactive blood donor to local ICTC, STI or liver clinic as per Govt. policy.
Sending letters to all sero-positive donors regarding their status of blood serology reports.
Updating the blood donor and blood camp details in the Govt. portal.
Maintaining the rare blood donor registry.
Communicating with the patient's relatives regarding the need to arrange apheresis or whole blood
donors.
Qualification:
MSW/ MSc. in sociology or psychology
Experience - Minimum 6 months experience in a licensed blood center.
The remuneration will be commensurate with years of experience.
