Business Need / Purpose of Role:

  • Required for sourcing and purchasing of goods according to the budgeting
& costing in optimum lead time. To create procurement strategy and plans based on the sales orders. To manage and co-ordinate with all delivery from vendors & vendor standardization w.r.t. to their performance


Objectives & Measurement

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:


Including but not limited to:


  • Ensure lowest procurement cost of Materials by leveraging consolidated business requirements, and optimize the quality of Materials by defining appropriate strategies and ensuring valueadding vendor/ supplier relationships
  • Manage the relationship to major / key vendors, monitor vendor performance and develop contingency plans for low performing vendors
  • Manage, motivate and coordinate staff responsible for the procurement of
Materials, and compliance to procurement policy

  • Represent the department within and outside procurement, building and enhancing the profile of the Procurement function
  • Define category sourcing strategies on the basis of extensive knowledge of the supply markets, and input by the sourcing teams
  • Lead the department's initiatives for standardization and harmonization of policies, processes and systems within and across spend categories, in order to build a winning, agile Procurement organization
  • Develop procurement vision and procurement strategy, taking into account developments in supply markets, business requirements, processes and systems
  • Assessment of vendor's performance and progress in order to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Interact with Product heads and work together in achieving the targets
  • Drive vendor Development through Vendor performance monitoring, supplier process improvement, supplier audits, technical support etc
  • Initiate vendor enrollment process for new vendors and discuss contract terms with them
  • Conduct Yearly and half Yearly performance review of team members and

  • Work on Workforce planning and Budgeting for recruitment of new team members

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Engineering ( BE ) degree in Mechanical / Metallurgy, with Fifteen to
Eighteen years relevant experience in supply chain function mainly in Valves
Industry.


Computer Skills:

The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software:

  • MS Office
  • ERP
