Job Purpose:


The Company is developing a unified and efficient system of contracts risk management in every region of the world in which it operates.

Contracts risk management is the process of systematically and efficiently managing both pre and post contractual risks in sales and purchasing agreements for the purpose of maximizing the Company's financial and operational performance and governance.

The contract risk management team are responsible for commercial sales and purchasing contracts' advice, risk review and ancillary support.

They will also ensure the local business leaders receive appropriate compliance guidance and information to assure adherence to the relevant policies and processes in the Leading Responsibly Framework.


As part of that process, the Company wishes to recruit an experienced Procurement Risk Adviser to focus primarily on purchasing contracts entered into by our entities in India.

This role will report into the Contracts Risk Manager - India and will be located at the Company shared services offices in Halol, Gujarat


Job Context:


  • The job holder will have at least 5 years' experience in reviewing, negotiating, and managing procurement contracts (be that largescale high worth contracts or a portfolio of contracts) working in the same or a similar field and environment.
  • He/she will be responsible for advising on the commercial risks in procurement activities to enhance and protect the Group's long term value.
  • He/she will coordinate with Purchase department, the Contracts Risk Manager and Group Legal Department to advise on commercial risks present in predominantly purchasing contracts for the Organization as well as advising on solutions based on the Company's risk appetite and adherence to the policies and processes in the Leading Responsibly Framework.
  • A strong technical understanding of procurement and contracting, with keen attention to detail and good analytical skills, is required. Excellent written skills and an ability to communicate information and influence key stakeholders at all levels (internal and external to the company) is a must.

Job Dimensions:


Based in Halol, this position will report to the Contracts Risk Manager and work in coordination with the Purchase Departments of various Lucy Electric entities for mitigation of commercial risks in purchase contracts.

The role holder will be a member of the risk review team for Indian purchasing contracts and will play an important role also in implementing the local policies and processes required to meet the requirements of the Leading Responsibly Framework.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ensure timely communication of relevant information as required.
  • Work closely with the Global Manufacturing Operations Director and the Global Purchasing Manager (based in India) as required and provide advice on commercial risks present in purchase contracts and proposed solutions.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Contracts Risk Manager regarding the status of all pending and current procurement contract reviews and negotiations.
  • Lead on purchasing contract reviews, negotiations, and implementation of contract variations, with a focus always on minimizing contract and business risk.
  • Refer all matters that may have an impact on contract or business risk from a financial, tax, accounting or legal standpoint to the Contracts Risk Manager and the Company's corporate finance and legal teams for guidance and support.
  • Ensure that all internal contract review and approval procedures are aligned with the Leading Responsibly Framework and that purchasing contracts are in line with legislation and the Company's approval processes and policies
  • Ensure that all contract documentation and related communications remain accessible to and auditable by the Company's internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure that all key contract documentation following signature is stored securely in the Company's central contracts repository.
  • Identify and refer any potential issues, risks and disputes with contractual counterparties to the Contracts Risk Manager and corporate legal team for guidance.
  • Ensuring that procurement is carried out in compliance with the organization's purchasing policy.
  • Monitoring the commercial T&Cs of Tenders being floated by the purchase department.
  • Drafting of commercial T&Cs in case of any Requests for Quotations (RFQs) being sent out by the purchase department.
  • Reviewing the additional T&Cs, if any, included by suppliers in their offers and advising the Purchasing Manager about the acceptability or otherwise of these T&Cs.
  • Verifying the Bank Guarantees and other indemnities submitted by various suppliers of the organization.
  • Being involved in post contract correspondences
