Job Summary:

As the Head of Engineering at Foundation AI, you will be at the helm of a skilled team of engineers dedicated to delivering top-notch software products that drive our business objectives.

This pivotal role involves overseeing project management, ensuring timely project delivery, nurturing team development, and upholding high standards of technical proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

Lead and oversee a team of 810 engineers, guiding their progress, development, and alignment with company targets.
Conduct regular oneonone meetings, offer mentorship, and conduct performance evaluations.
Cultivate a positive and collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and teamwork.

Project and Delivery Management:

Direct project execution to ensure on-time delivery and exceptional results.
Collaborate with product managers to outline project scope, objectives, and outcomes.
Address and clarify technical uncertainties within the team.
Coordinate with the Product Management team to resolve uncertainties in product requirements
Mitigate project risks, manage escalations, and make strategic decisions for project success.
Take ownership of the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the team and drive towards their achievement.

Technical Guidance and Support:

Offer technical guidance to the team, assisting in resolving intricate technical issues and production challenges.
Ensure adherence to software development best practices, architectural standards, and coding guidelines.
Engage in design and code reviews to uphold software quality and sustainability.
Make critical architecture decisions, aiding the team in selecting the most suitable technology stack for long-term scalability and maintainability.
Proficient in deep-dive debugging to pinpoint issues and propose effective solutions. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and postmortem activities.
Address and manage technical debts with proper prioritization.

Release and Configuration Management

Accountable for all internal and external releases following the prescribed timeline and procedures
Responsible for all pre/post-release tasks (e.g., Ensuring correct tagging for images, verifying environment variables, secrets, and configurations)
Compile and publish bug statistics for monitoring and analysis to enhance dev/staging/prod environments.

Process and Operational Improvement:

Continually enhance software development processes to boost efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
Implement best practices within the team and share effective management approaches with colleagues.
Ensure meticulous planning and adherence to processes for successful project and organizational results.
Define and monitor critical metrics for the development team

Stakeholder Communication:

Facilitate effective communication among business, technical, and customer stakeholders.
Articulate the team's technical vision and ensure alignment with business goals.

Hiring and Talent Development:

Proactively identify recruitment needs to assemble the right talent for sustained long-term success.
Participate in the recruitment process by conducting interviews and selecting top-tier talent.
Nourish team members through mentorship, training, and fostering growth Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven track record as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership capacity.
Robust technical background with hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
Excellent project management capabilities demonstrated by delivering top-quality software projects punctually.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a focus on coaching and nurturing engineering talent.
Proficient problemsolving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in process enhancement and operational excellence within software development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience operating in an Agile development setting.
Awareness of industry-leading practices and trends in software development and technology.
Familiarity with cloud computing, DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.

Tech stack (Should know and have):

Familiarity with technologies, programming languages, and frameworks: Python, React, flask, fastAPI
Proficiency with asynchronous task executor: comprehensive understanding of celery and its operations
Understanding of messaging systems: RabbitMQ
Experience with schedulers: Airflow
Competence in logging: ELK log
Knowledge of identity management systems (Oauth2, OIDC, SAML): Keycloak
Proficiency in ORM: SQLalchemy
Proficient in working with databases: Postgres/MongoDB/Vector DB
Background in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) approach
Extensive familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, able to plan and execute sprints successfully
Thorough experience in Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
