Job Title: Associate Editor
Department: Editorial
Reporting to: Editor
Summary:

The Associate Editor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day

will have a strong interest in current events and a passion for writing for

young people.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the editorial team, including reporters, editors, and designers

Develop and execute the editorial vision for the newspaper

Ensure that stories are accurate, engaging, and relevant to school

children

Edit and proofread stories

Work with the design team to create a visually appealing newspaper

Manage the newspaper's social media presence

Attend news conferences and events

Maintain a strong understanding of current events

Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in education

Generate new ideas for stories and features

Mentor and develop staff members

Qualifications:

Master's OR Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a

related field

5+ years of experience in journalism, preferably in a leadership role

Strong writing and editing skills

Excellent research skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong communication skills and passion for writing
