Currently, we are in search of a skilled professional to join our team in the position of Legal Counsel, Global Trade & Receivables Finance.

    Principal responsibilities

    • Provide legal assistance to HSBC's Global Commercial Banking division, especially in the realm of Global Trade & Receivables Finance, ensuring thorough identification and management of legal risks, support for transactions, and timely escalations.
    • This role offers an opportunity for a seasoned banking and finance lawyer to receive on-the-job training and evolve into a trade finance expert in a renowned organization that excels in trade and supply chain finance solutions.
    • Occasional international travel may be required.
    • Offer legal support to the Global Trade & Receivables Finance business regarding transactions.
    • Ensure adherence of transaction documentation, under the jobholder's purview, to Global Trade & Receivables Finance policies and procedures for effective legal risk management.
    • Utilize established channels to escalate issues when needed to ensure timely and appropriate legal support for the business.
    • Handle drafting and negotiation of various trade documents.
    • Assess template facility and security documents across all customer segments for various products, such as receivables finance, lending, documentary credits, trade collections, bonds/guarantees, supply chain finance, leasing, and hire purchase.
    • Conduct gap analysis of standard terms versus customized documentation.
    • Review transactional documents, including customer board resolutions and capacity opinions.

    Requirements

    • Qualified lawyer (preferably from a common law jurisdiction) with at least 8+ years' post-qualification experience in banking and finance law.
    • Solid grasp of domestic banking and finance laws and transactions. Trade finance background is advantageous but not mandatory.
    • Demonstrated experience in people management, with the ability to inspire others and foster a collaborative team environment.
    • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and effectively managing workloads.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and lateral thinking.
    • Regulatory knowledge and familiarity with risk management are beneficial but not obligatory.
