    ISS STOXX is growing ISS STOXX seeks a Director to lead the Index Platform Engineering team in Mumbai.

    Overview:

    The Index Engineering group is responsible for the technology driving the STOXX and DAX index brands, calculating thousands of daily stock market indices to support investment management around the globe.

    We are looking for an accomplished individual to lead the local Index platform Engineering team. This individual will be part of a global engineering team developing applications and technology to support the STOXX business. As a key leader, you will be responsible for driving engineering standards, ensuring delivery, managing a team of talented engineers, and developing strategy. This position will be reporting to Managing Director, Index Engineering.

    Responsibilities:

    Strategic & Engineering Leadership :

  • Develop and execute the software engineering strategy aligned with the overall business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define technical strategies and ensure alignment with business goals.

    • Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop individuals through continuous feedback, goals, and performance evaluations.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent to enhance the capabilities of the team.

    • Delivery Management:

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, across the team ensuring that quality solutions are delivered on time and budget.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders, effectively communicating status, risks, and addressing concerns.
  • Familiar with Agile and conventional project delivery methodologies and able to run ceremonies in either if required.

    • Technical Stack:

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance, ensuring the team is proficient in relevant technologies such as Python, SQL, GCP cloud, .Net, and C#.
  • Work with senior engineers to architect/design scalable and maintainable software solutions.

    • Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and testing procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Ensures high quality outcomes through validation and verification testing of functional and non-functional requirements.Drive continuous improvement in development processes and practices

    • Support and Improvement:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the platforms and applications supporting index services in a regulated 24x7 environment.
  • Serve as a point of contact providing technical support and assistance in troubleshooting issues in platform operation, including on occasion providing out of hours support.
  • Continuously improve operation by proactively predicting and fixing problems seen in operation.

    • Impact:

  • The role with be responsible for providing technology to support the STOXX Index business to run existing and to develop new Index products and services in a cost efficient and timely manner.

    • Qualifications:

    Technical/ job functional knowledge:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of (10+ years) of successful software development leadership within the financial services industry.
  • Significant experience (7+ years) in software development methodologies and Agile based delivery
  • Strong technical background with expertise in Python, SQL, Public cloud.
  • Knowledge of .Net/C# and MS-SQL applications is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of quality assurance best practices within the software development process.
  • Keen interest in technology trends and the implications for business.

    • Business / Sector expertise:

  • Thorough understanding and in-depth knowledge of market data, security reference data (bonds & equities), pricing, industry classification, company fundamental data and ESG data.
  • Knowledge of portfolio construction and management is advantageous.

    • Leadership & management experience:

  • Experience in professional people management / thought leadership in software engineering.
  • 7+ years' experience in managing technical teams.
  • Experience in delivery or project management across teams.

    • Personal skills & capabilities:

  • Strong team and stakeholder management, problem solver, a self-sufficient individual with an ability to be constructively address issues.
  • Track record for developing and retaining high performing teams.
