Wholesale Credit Risk is an organization spanning across CB, CIB and AWM Credit Risk.

This role will sit within the Portfolio Analytics team, that is focused on reshaping the end-to-end Wholesale Credit Risk experience through deployment of advanced analytical frameworks and Machine Learning algorithms on top of the firm's big data resources.

We are looking for an Associate / Analyst to join our Industry Risk Monitoring team in Mumbai.

IRM team's mission is to perform proactive industry and event risk monitoring for CIB and CB credit portfolios that will support the senior management in portfolio decisioning.

The team is tasked with developing the next-generation analytics platform for industry risk surveillance and assessment of emerging event risk and market shocks on the global credit portfolio.

**Job Description

  • You will contribute to development of the analytical risk framework to assess and quantify the impact of geopolitical, industryspecific shocks and other tail events including propagation effects within global supply chain network.
  • You will contribute to building the data framework on industryspecific and macroeconomic metrics with global breadth of coverage. You will employ NLP and other ML techniques on traditional financial data sources such as annual reports and earnings calls and combine them with firm's internal data sources and alternative datasets from external vendors.
  • You will be responsible for regularly tracking key geopolitical, policy, commodity, demandsupply and supply chain developments across multiple industries and geographies through various channels not limited to news and research reports.
  • You will liaise with various credit risk teams, analytics and surveillance teams with Strategy Analytics, technology, product and other critical functions within Wholesale Credit Risk.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Graduate in Engineering, Economics or Statistics. 4+ years experience
  • Good proficiency in coding with Python or R. Good working knowledge of 23 industry verticals such as Auto, Oil & Gas, Healthcare etc.
  • Knowledge of financial markets (including macro and microeconomics)
  • Basic understanding of equity, bonds, derivatives and other financial instruments
  • 12 years experience in Regression modelling, Clustering, Decision trees, NLP techniques or Financial Modelling (DCF valuation)
  • Intellectual curiosity with ability to learn quickly, innovation mindset and passionate about solving challenging complex problems. Ability to perform well in fast paced environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
The following additional items will be considered but are not required for this role

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications (CFA, Masters in Finance or Economics) would be highly regarded
  • Experience in Credit Risk, Market Risk, Country Risk or Global Research preferred
