    About the Role

    Your job will include:

    1. Drive the efficient migration and/or development of AXIS models within the agreed time frames.
    2. Drive the growth and development of MCoE team members as highly skilled modellers. Provide support to wider MCoE team members via knowledge sharing and mentoring.
    3. Guide and challenge the technical development of the AXIS platform using your AXIS modelling expertise (training can be provided for individuals with a strong modelling aptitude in other platforms).
    4. Ensure AXIS model developments and related testing activities are conducted in a controlled, auditable and robust manner in accordance with best practice and the documented model governance framework.
    5. Drive continuous process improvements to optimize efficiency and work product quality.
    6. Collaborate with all respective regional teams to steer the prioritisation of AXIS work, so that it provides the most effective outcome for the L&H business
    7. Support regional teams in resolving issues related to the operation or fit-for-purpose of the production AXIS models.

    About the Team

    The L&H Modelling Centre of Excellence (L&H MCoE) is a large global team, responsible for creating and maintaining the AXIS, RAFM and Prophet IBNR actuarial models which used across all Swiss Re L&H Reinsurance locations. With a current team size of 54 based across 4 locations, the L&H MCoE's remit spans from understanding requirements from stakeholders, through to the development, testing, quality assurance, maintenance and on-going support of AXIS, RAFM and Unify. The L&H MCoE in the wider context of Swiss Re Reinsurance is part of the Life & Health Business Management division, which is responsible for the inforce management of Swiss Re's global L&H Reinsurance business.

    About you:

    As a qualified / part qualified actuary with 7+ years of life insurance/reinsurance experience, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound technical actuarial knowledge and experience leading a team of actuarial staff in developing actuarial models, specifically cash flow projection models, including understanding the actuarial assumptions, data and methodology and analysing and explaining the resulting cashflow and reserve projections.

    • The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:
    • Skilled actuarial software developer and/or user with at least 7+ years of experience in the insurance/actuarial industry. Development experience using RAFM, AXIS, VBA, SQL or Python is ideal but not necessary. Training will be provided as needed.
    • Excellent organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail – able to quickly absorb details on business structure, product features and model requirements.
    • Ability to robustly develop and communicate actuarial best practice (setting up models, documentation, governance, analysis, testing etc) including reviewing and challenging work of team members to ensure best practice is being followed
    • Experience mentoring and coaching team members of varying experience and driving team engagement
    • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, with an ability to work with other MCoE/project team members in multiple locations
    • Ability to identify complex problems, find innovate solutions and translate this into software solutions within the modelling platform that are robust but also efficient and transparent
    • Ability to work independently, reliably, efficiently, transparently, accurately and deliver to deadlines
    • Shows initiative in identifying issues and supporting other team members, peers and senior stakeholders
    • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks accordingly
