    Lead Specialist – Investments

    Designated Person for Investment Management

    What can you expect?

    The Investment Specialist on the Designated Person for Investment Management's team is an integral part of the team responsible for investment management oversight of the MGIM funds.

    The Board has assigned day-to-day responsibility for the oversight of the investment management function to the Designated Person for Investment Management. The Investment Specialist shall report into the Designated Person for Investment Management who in turns reports into the CEO of Mercer's management company, Mercer Global Investment Management ("MGIM") in addition to a functional reporting line within Mercer Investment Solutions.

    We will count on you to:

    • Support the Designated Person for Investment Management in overseeing the MGIM funds. This includes:
    • Reporting to the Board on at least a quarterly basis and escalating any matters that require their attention as soon as possible.
    • Develop a deep and thorough investment understanding of the funds.
    • Review the investment strategies of the funds including appointment of underlying investment managers.
    • Contribute to and review the sustainable investment policies of the funds. Liaise closely with the wider team.
    • Prepare and present materials for governance committees including the MGIM Board
    • Build, develop and maintain strong working relationships with the other designated persons (and their teams), the MGIE portfolio management team and the wider business (fund management, portfolio intelligence, legal & compliance, operations and finance).
    • Ensure suitable reporting flows and communication to facilitate efficient oversight programme for the investment management function
    • An ability to draft and review documentation required to liaise with the regulator in relation to the investment management of the funds in a timely manner.
    • Maintain, update, enhance and document investment management processes and procedures.
    • Build a strong understanding of the Security Lending Programme and keep up to speed with changes in the industry.
    • Contribute to MGIM's annual objectives and work on business projects within the team.

    What you need to have:

    • 4-5 years of experience working in an investment manager/ fund manager/ investment consultancy or related background
    • Strong analytical skills to review and analyse information critically to identify and articulate the issues on hand, and propose solutions where relevant.
    • Curious and a problem-solver; with a-get-involved attitude.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills.
    • Organized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Highly motivated, driven and focused.
    • Ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent analytical and investment skills
    • Understanding of ESG Investing and SFDR Funds in Europe

    What makes you stand out?

    • Passionate about a career in investments/fund management.
    • Understanding of the investment strategy and risks in a fund
    • Knowledge of UCITS, AIFs and Fund regulatory requirements an advantage, but not a requirement.
    • CFA/FRM certified
