  • Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group's analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk , Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.
  • There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.
  • Global Business/Global Function

  • Wealth and Personal Banking is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Private Banking, to become one of the world's largest global wealth managers with trillion in assets. Our dedicated colleagues serve millions of customers worldwide across the entire spectrum of private wealth, ranging from personal banking for individuals and families, through to business owners, investors and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.   • WPB business team will leverage richer analytics-driven insights to enable a more personalized approach to targeting and engaging with consumers. From location-based offers to improved service delivery, WPB business will use spending patterns, product use, and channel interactions to enable improved experience-driven banking. WPB business to provide employees with contextual data for smarter consumer engagement and provide management with robust analytics (customer interaction, attrition, loyalty, cost analysis and transactional and behavioral analysis) for ongoing decision-making and also for mitigating regulatory risk. WPB analytics team provide support 30+ markets globally

  • Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function

  • Global RBWM Retail Credit Risk manages Credit Risk associated with Retail lending products (Mortgages, Credit Cards, Loans and Overdrafts) for all countries HSBC operates in. The function is supported by several hundred analytics professionals engaged in reporting, modelling and data manipulation. As a result, there are significant challenges to the effective management of data within the function requiring close cooperation with partners in RBWM and Finance.
  • The Retail Credit Risk (RCR) Data Team is seeking Data Analysts to support and deliver of Data projects at Global and Regional levels. A data strategy is being implemented consisting of MI and Data focused projects supporting business and regulatory requirements, with a goal of moving significant processes to Cloud.
  • The successful candidate will form an integral part of the RCR Data Management function and will be actively involved in the definition of business requirements, global data strategies and implementation activities. There is also a key requirement to ensure compliance against regulatory driven data requirements including Basel 3 and the Data Management FIM.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to exercise independent initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to success, dealing with uncertainty and changing circumstances, project interdependencies, opportunities and risks
  • Information Management job family is designed to cater towards all the data needs of business. It covers sourcing of data and building structured data lakes, designing data marts generating Business Insights and hosting data in Cloud. Key responsibilities also include but not limited to: creation of a robust data foundation and continuous update of these datasets, to support Analysis and reporting, identify opportunities for data monetization, leverage BI and Visualization tools to deliver key business insights and develop self-serve BI solutions to empower the business to make informed decisions. The team members embed agile delivery methodologies to continuously keep refining the data models using new and emerging techniques. This team also acts as a bridge between IT and the business stakeholders.
  • The role holder needs to manage multiple clients from different regions having different time zones, regulatory environment, and maturity of business, data and systems.
  • The role holder will also be responsible for collaboratively working with business as the first point of contact for the Data/Infrastructure requirements to facilitate drive all the requirements
  • The role holder has to continuously adopt varying managerial skills and innovative ways to retain key resources.
  • There are multiple teams supporting different aspects analytics for the same larger business problems.The job holder needs to drive collaborations and synergies to integrate the analytics solutions for the business.
  • Deliver on GAC responsibilities / intra functional responsibilities in alignment with other verticals. The role holder will be expected to understand key business goals & priorities at top of the house level and distil it down to specific goals for the teams being handled.
  • The role holder shall also be expected to lead a function/unit within a function; guide and lead managers / managers, assistant Managers/analysts, from a functional & administrative perspective and help them build up a strong business understanding.
  • The job accountabilities of this role are:

    Projects and analysis

  • Strong understanding of business domain, its strategic direction, functional goals, and the required technical expertise.
  • Ensures all the required products are produced and reviewed, including the technical leadership of requirements management, design, implementation, system integration, verification, test, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainment of the technical solution
  • Ensures the delivery of information to support the strategic and tactical information needs of the organization.
  • Oversees the integrating and staging of data and development of data stores for use by analysts throughout the organization.
  • Service Delivery

  • Responsible for delivery of high quality Data & Information Management & Analysis solutions & provide tailored consultative service to Global Businesses, Global Functions, Regional & country teams.
  • Responsible for complex program management tasks and development of standards and processes for scheduling, administration, and accounting
  • Oversees analysis, planning, development of requirements documents and project budgets, building functional models, developing procedures, developing functional architectures, and other related management and technical duties
  • Manage scope throughout the project duration. Maintains accurate program estimates, timelines, project plans, status reports
  • Manages and tracks team velocity, financials, and other KPIs in relation to the plan and publishes progress reports.

  • What you'll do:

    Job Description (Sub-function):

  • This role requires collaborating with multiple stakeholders across geographies and helping them to prepare the data for regulatory and non-regulatory modelling exercise. The candidate should have following skills:
  • Strong SAS and good Python development experience. PySpark experience is an added advantage
  • Understand the Data Requirements for regulatory requirements. Requirement analysis and collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Perform Data Analysis to develop data quality rules
  • Exposure to financial domain
  • Develop data quality rules and implement for data accuracy, validity & Completeness
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate large data sets, data storage, and data modelling
  • Exposure to Qliksense or any other dashboard reports
  • Exposure to Unix shell script and Hive database setup
  • Working closely with global and regional teams to deliver regulatory related data management and governance projects within strict timelines
  • Able to understand and work on data lineage across multiple reports and systems
  • Actively involved in the business requirements, global data strategies, testing and implementation activities
  • Requirements

    What you will need to succeed in the role:

    Eligibility Criteria –

  • Strong SAS, SQL and Python development experience 12+ Years' experience. PySpark knowledge will be added advantage
  • Strong exposure to Data quality concepts and Developing and maintaining DQ rules for complex data
  • Knowledge of in any one or combination of advanced BI and Data tools Qliksense, SQL .
  • Strong track record of managing and leading large teams
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to think creatively to drive innovative solutions
  • Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries
  • Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to produce high quality reports which are articulate and effectively deliver the right message to the recipients
  • Functional requirements –

  • Ensuring Data quality is of highest standards and envisage new ways of testing data quality in the organization
  • Delivery of a common data model for Retail Risk which would serve regulatory, reporting and modelling requirements
  • Soft Skills requirements

  • Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and develop end to end solutions.
  • Collaborate with partners across business groups, evaluate emerging techniques that may contribute to existing analytical capabilities and computational models
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success.
  • Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
