SIMPLY CUT THROUGH IT ALL NETWORKING IS PEOPLE CONNECTING WITH PEOPLENETWORKING IS SIMPLY PEOPLE CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE.

In a globally connected world, with different countries, Laws, cultures etc, it is desirable to know each other as a person.

It is best to just socialize, save the time & effort in ice breaking & connect through passions in an instant. Rather, use the time & effort to improve mutual understanding.

It's been a week for me at Bebee & this has been my experience:

 • None of the long and tedious introductory mails.
 • Conversations don't have too many questions of inquiry.
 • Awareness and diversified interests are welcome, not labelled unprofessional.

This is how it is right now & I hope it remains this way, plus it improves in some other aspects.

Speaking of aspects, If I were to compare from a user perspective- As an employed, Linkedin was more suitable in projecting my specializations but the moment Companies started doing badly due to Economic conditions, there was no other聽way to be credible.聽

As a self employed, it was restrictive when it came to 聽marketing myself as multi-tasking professional as i was viewed as someone without direction. Consequently, i usually got work by having an online argument with unforgiving professionals. It was pretty much one track when it came to negotiations :), the steamy track.

On the other hand, without the uptight mindset, People tend to be more forgiving :) , hence , for the self employed or a small company employee,Bebee maybe a better place to start , especially for those who are new to professional networks.

Funny thing, LinkedIn doesn't promote 聽"Linking" of the Personal & Professional yet. It must be figuring out a way to do so. If only it could acknowledge Bebee and give the Bebee profile a visible link, it could be so much easier for the self employed.

聽Personally, i have not come across anyone who is exclusively a Bebee user yet, but i have found the same people to be more receptive here, at Bebee.

A word of caution though, Bebee is all metaphorical with the Hives, the honey, the buzzing etc but one can get lost in metaphors. Imagine countless users (including me) using the same lingo , an audience may soon be more Be(e) and less self.

That apart, It's nice to have everything at one place and yet retain the professional identity.聽

A well rounded self expression that's authentic from my end and is perceived as such.

It is a good concept for developing my personal brand as i get to:
 • Personally connect through passions.
 • Develop my own "Personal Brand"
 • Showcase my work/samples across different skill sets. Diversity is good here.
 • Do it all simultaneously and coherently.聽
Personal branding is no rocket science, one can grow into step by step, with Authenticity at the core, it is so much easier.聽

:
THE PERSONAL BRAND

PRY Se INTERESTING,
A MAKE IT
KNOW YOURS LE ~— MEM

EL) YOURSLIL ASSESS THE AUDIENCE ADAPT
HONESTY- IMAGINATION 7 ENSURE UNDERSTANDING

Well, one might say it all looks good, but how to keep it authentic and sustainable?

This is how

ALIGN;REFINE; DEFINE

Basically it is just alignment, the little tweaks that can make the sum of all parts come out beautifully. But it sounds good this way.

Now one may not get it right within the first attempt but the recipe to get it right is certainly with Bebee.

It is all a matter of alignment I.e. Align:
 • Personal; Passions and the Professional -- its easier to avoid the confusions and be authentic. - ALIGN
 • Imagination;Expression and Honesty : I can figure it out and also see countless networkers 聽doing the same. The metaphorical flair does help in making the honest look attractive-REFINE
 • Align the indicators - Personal Connect , Personal Brand and Work/Sample - DEFINE.

Again, this is just a definition of a process, a context. It is how I see it, not a compulsion that needs following.

I think alignment is important because a disconnect really hurts when one reaches the threshold to take that big leap of success. One often ends up revisiting the personal brand and may end up reworking the whole thing. Imagine having to press the reset button after all the work.
Reworking isn't all that bad if its a strategic decision, in this case it becomes a need of the hour, time constraints can really mess it up. Why not get it right in the first place?

STUFF TO FIGURE OUT STUFF TO FIGURE OUT

PERSONAL
PROFESSIONAL -
\ 1S BETTER THAN DISCONNECT
ALIGNED
PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL

IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME THING= BE(e) YOURSELF
YOU DON'T NEED CHARTS FOR THAT.
NOT THE ONE | MADE &
Time to Be(e)...hmm ...Now what else comes to mind?聽

Got it.

KNOW WHERE TO GROW & HOW:

It's all together in one profile, all the more flexible. In this case, I will skip the "one" who can and say , you can flow with the direction:
 • Grow 聽your Passion.
 • Grow 聽your Profession.
 • Grow both.
 • Keep Growing : Be(e) yourself. Either you initiate, or someone else will, through affinity. First grow in the moment, then then the conversation and then the engagement. Its a social network, it's best to socialize.
Like I am being myself here. Creating a context and enjoying the way it develops.

As far as the How is concerned, same old same old:
 • Practice Authenticity -- I say practice because a messup may be metaphorically unintentional :)
 • Practice having an open mind - an aware mind. It is very much possible that 聽Bebee helps one become a better Linkie :) it is helping me with the nuances of networking as the personal brand grows across networks :)
 • Practice Professionalism - I just don't assume it, I arrive at it during every interaction, it is much more transparent.

I am a New bee here, so I thought best to stick with the context as a user.it will take me a month or two to filter through and evaluate the 聽relevant Analytics that have been floating around in other posts as a user. I think some might even get populated in the comments. Meanwhile I am enjoying Bebee.

AN HONEST
WELL
ROUNDED SELF
EXPRESSION

OPEN MINDED
NETWORKERS

PROFESSIONAL
ENGAGEMENTS

PASSION
DRIVEN
POSSIBILITES

GROW WITH FREEDOM WITH THE ERANCH/ROOT THAT YIELDS & STILL
BE{e) THE FAPILIAR TREE. | HOPE YOU GET THE DRIFT
I do believe that the way I am projecting myself on Bebee, will very well serve as the basis for presenting myself everywhere else. Why? Simply because i am not limiting myself to a 聽rigid context and I have the liberty to Align. Refine and Define my online presence SEAMLESSLY.

that is why it has to be compressed. On it. You know people across the corporate board, perhaps inputs could customise it.

Devesh Bhatt This is awesome. I love how you laid out a flowchart and almost a presentation here. But it's a little lengthy for the new bees. I love it though. A great way to share what we feel about our first steps at birth on beBee.

My apologies stephan metral 🐝 Innovative Brand Ambassador Campu saturday evening. Still the idea is to reduce this into a pitch and customise for select audiences.

with growing numbers , it would be harder to sustain the personal element , because competition reduces it. This is the golden period as far as networking with good people is concerned. The hope here is, collective effort will sustain the goodness.

as far as awareness towards branding is concerned, it's a good platform to see others and pick up the basics. Learning to Brand first hand, not the copy book version. There is scope for error here, ideas can take shape. I see people getting good at branding here, I see myself getting better. This will help get work and build relationships. See your comment just inspired a quote. LinkedIn is a network. Bebee is an experience :) That makes it personal, something all service providers want to achieve. Thanks for sharing it around, this was my first buzz, then I did that complication experiment :)

Contd Authenticity is based on points of reference and the benefit of doubts to people to pick up and learn. You were incorrect about the Caste system...its about birthright and not skin color or Aryans vs Dravidians... Benefit of doubt...i dont know your sources and the point is irrelevant here. But you linked it with someone who disagrees...made me think..why not be direct in the first post itself about my post up straight? You mentioned Education as a saving grace in our times is akin to savings and loans in crisis. Then i read you stating something like the abundance of information is better than or makes up for the lack of content. That i relate to...access to education precedes lack of content...literacy is essential here... But i also notice the disconnect. I do not think you are authentic enough to judge on authenticity....which is a matter of introspection and not opinion...a matter of expression with the clarity that this is how it works for me and may do for like minded people..the affinity concept appeals to me. I see Douglas Adams and Beatles differently. I see the working class differently and the heroes ignorant of labour laws or raising their voice against it but taking pride in showing the way differently.. I like the authenticity of non tourist hill areas in the interiors which allows me to seek the possibility and apply the contexts and frameworks that.can sustain.Even if you go another level higher and say authenticity has to be spontaneous, if its a refined expression it is fake...then my simple response is this... I have stated an idea in writing, its my expression..its not plagiarised, you already have a disabled view of personal branding . Hence i will persist. Is it ok with you?

Image will always conflict with authenticity... Its not just social media, it is the way society is conditioned. At the same time , conflict has two choices.... Supress one for the other or try to align. Time constraints lead to supression, even i have experienced it...Image usually wins. But its not sustainable. Image aligned with authenticity is sustainable... Sustainable means consistent and not eternal. But it does sustain for a few years. It sustains because the flaws are evident. I am middle class and identify with this recipe.. As a self employed , i have been unemployed for a months over the last two years, i still identify with this recipe. I have been ethical in my job, have no regrets and havent found any questions directed at the context, so the recipe remains. Truly authentic is redundant. What is true is authentic... I am selling a point of view, i have worked on it and kept alignment at the core. a context where i have tried to incorporate all possibilities.

We live in a world of data insights of which Hans Rosling is one of the master visualizers - and that in turn sets a new bar on how we present data until this extraordinary ability is fashioned into advanced tools that we can use. Hans Rosling https://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_reveals_new_insights_on_poverty Here I am, an individual who has come to beBee with a massive emphasis on personal education and a disabled view on professional brand when I try to understand conceptual ideas centered on personal brand. Brand = Image no matter how you cut brand - and authenticity is sacrificed by image - and in our image seeking world actual authenticity is muted by taboos, political correctness, communal and tribal ways etc etc etc and for good reason. A person who is truly authentic basically does not give a shit and in this world for everyone of those people we admire, there are a 100 who are what the Beatles called "No-Where Man". As soon as we try to sell our point of view we are no longer authentic, but we are on the beginnings of a journey that will transform us into an excellent brand. Devesh, you are more aligned with beBee in terms of professional brand than I am, no matter how personal we make personal brand, it is still professional. Look at me, I am as branded as everybody else here is - the person who does not give a shit isn't online. To engage public opinion isn't authenticity, it is brand. Thinking out aloud is authentic until we steer the conversation.

Thanks Zacharias 🐝 Voulgaris. Given the number of posts on Bebee in just over a week compared to my 4 posts on Linkedin, i think this has become my primary network too. I was just curious if i could find some who started out with Bebee. Hopefully i will get to meet them like i met you.
Great diagrams and seamless flow of thought. Thank you for sharing. Since you brought it up, I am sure there are people who use beBee as their primary professional network (I'm one of them), though I doubt many people avoid LinkedIn altogether. Anyway, I hope you continue finding this great site useful and engaging. I look forward to reading some more of your content in it (aka honey).

Franci🐝Eugenia Hoffman , discussing quality of education maybe farfetched, many countries still struggle with access to education, although i did like the concept of Uganda, access to libraries and availability of internet go hand in hand with opening of schools.

being a proxy is their context. Maybe you went as a poor man, but you had access - being what they percieved you as. Caste system is still prevalent, but now there isnt an obligation to follow it strictly nor has it been eradicated, merely different options of convenience go in tandem for the people with authority. It is less visible, but it still exists. The rest suffer in every case. The only saving grace has been education..the only tool to endure and make it.

I think you will find Devesh that the super-rich have their systems of connection and the poor have their own system of connection, it is the middle class that have linked-in profiles and who end up shoulder rubbing in cocktail networking. If I attend a cocktail networking event, I usually attend as a poor person. They move away from me as fast as poor Indian street kids spot and encircle a middle class non-resident Indian visiting from London or Vancouver or San Jose. The genius of Douglas N. Adams when he wrote Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was laughing at the professional classes and here he created the B' Ark. The B-Ark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSid-p0Xlk0 Now lets get to the poor. My parents came to England because they were poor to do the nastiest jobs available, at a time when these jobs could not be filled - and it is because we had an inbuilt village network that people collaborated in ways that are imaginable to those who cite "social networking". There was a time when India networked on the basis of a caste system, though when I called it "cultural apartheid" in a talk show on Radio London, the diplomat from the Indian embassy vehemently rejected the proposition that the caste system was originated by the Aryan culture that set up a hierarchical system that kept the dark skinned Dravidians at the bottom of that hierarchy. I no longer can talk about the poor because I am not poor anymore - but is it not ironic that the proxies for the poor are still us, despite there being "social networking" how many of our connections are working class hero's? (Peasants as John Lennon sang).

I tend to refer to personal branding as a middle class recipe that does not mention homeless people or the unemployed. The people in the flowchart are not people, they are mainly middle class people. Now think about the 1% that own most of the world's wealth, because very few middle class and below zero people even remotely have a clue who they are but what I do know is that the 1% fear becoming a middle class, as much as the middle class fear being unemployed.
