TIME TO BE(e): A FEW THOUGHTS WHILE I ENJOY THE BUZZ - by Devesh Bhatt
NETWORKING IS SIMPLY PEOPLE CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE.In a globally connected world, with different countries, Laws, cultures etc, it is desirable to know each other as a person.
It is best to just socialize, save the time & effort in ice breaking & connect through passions in an instant. Rather, use the time & effort to improve mutual understanding.
It's been a week for me at Bebee & this has been my experience:
- None of the long and tedious introductory mails.
- Conversations don't have too many questions of inquiry.
- Awareness and diversified interests are welcome, not labelled unprofessional.
This is how it is right now & I hope it remains this way, plus it improves in some other aspects.
Speaking of aspects, If I were to compare from a user perspective- As an employed, Linkedin was more suitable in projecting my specializations but the moment Companies started doing badly due to Economic conditions, there was no other聽way to be credible.聽
As a self employed, it was restrictive when it came to 聽marketing myself as multi-tasking professional as i was viewed as someone without direction. Consequently, i usually got work by having an online argument with unforgiving professionals. It was pretty much one track when it came to negotiations :), the steamy track.
- Personally connect through passions.
- Develop my own "Personal Brand"
- Showcase my work/samples across different skill sets. Diversity is good here.
- Do it all simultaneously and coherently.聽
- Personal; Passions and the Professional -- its easier to avoid the confusions and be authentic. - ALIGN
- Imagination;Expression and Honesty : I can figure it out and also see countless networkers 聽doing the same. The metaphorical flair does help in making the honest look attractive-REFINE
- Align the indicators - Personal Connect , Personal Brand and Work/Sample - DEFINE.
- Grow 聽your Passion.
- Grow 聽your Profession.
- Grow both.
- Keep Growing : Be(e) yourself. Either you initiate, or someone else will, through affinity. First grow in the moment, then then the conversation and then the engagement. Its a social network, it's best to socialize.
- Practice Authenticity -- I say practice because a messup may be metaphorically unintentional :)
- Practice having an open mind - an aware mind. It is very much possible that 聽Bebee helps one become a better Linkie :) it is helping me with the nuances of networking as the personal brand grows across networks :)
- Practice Professionalism - I just don't assume it, I arrive at it during every interaction, it is much more transparent.

that is why it has to be compressed. On it. You know people across the corporate board, perhaps inputs could customise it.

Devesh Bhatt This is awesome. I love how you laid out a flowchart and almost a presentation here. But it's a little lengthy for the new bees. I love it though. A great way to share what we feel about our first steps at birth on beBee.

with growing numbers , it would be harder to sustain the personal element , because competition reduces it. This is the golden period as far as networking with good people is concerned. The hope here is, collective effort will sustain the goodness.

as far as awareness towards branding is concerned, it's a good platform to see others and pick up the basics. Learning to Brand first hand, not the copy book version. There is scope for error here, ideas can take shape. I see people getting good at branding here, I see myself getting better. This will help get work and build relationships. See your comment just inspired a quote. LinkedIn is a network. Bebee is an experience :) That makes it personal, something all service providers want to achieve. Thanks for sharing it around, this was my first buzz, then I did that complication experiment :)

Image will always conflict with authenticity... Its not just social media, it is the way society is conditioned. At the same time , conflict has two choices.... Supress one for the other or try to align. Time constraints lead to supression, even i have experienced it...Image usually wins. But its not sustainable. Image aligned with authenticity is sustainable... Sustainable means consistent and not eternal. But it does sustain for a few years. It sustains because the flaws are evident. I am middle class and identify with this recipe.. As a self employed , i have been unemployed for a months over the last two years, i still identify with this recipe. I have been ethical in my job, have no regrets and havent found any questions directed at the context, so the recipe remains. Truly authentic is redundant. What is true is authentic... I am selling a point of view, i have worked on it and kept alignment at the core. a context where i have tried to incorporate all possibilities.

We live in a world of data insights of which Hans Rosling is one of the master visualizers - and that in turn sets a new bar on how we present data until this extraordinary ability is fashioned into advanced tools that we can use. Hans Rosling https://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_reveals_new_insights_on_poverty Here I am, an individual who has come to beBee with a massive emphasis on personal education and a disabled view on professional brand when I try to understand conceptual ideas centered on personal brand. Brand = Image no matter how you cut brand - and authenticity is sacrificed by image - and in our image seeking world actual authenticity is muted by taboos, political correctness, communal and tribal ways etc etc etc and for good reason. A person who is truly authentic basically does not give a shit and in this world for everyone of those people we admire, there are a 100 who are what the Beatles called "No-Where Man". As soon as we try to sell our point of view we are no longer authentic, but we are on the beginnings of a journey that will transform us into an excellent brand. Devesh, you are more aligned with beBee in terms of professional brand than I am, no matter how personal we make personal brand, it is still professional. Look at me, I am as branded as everybody else here is - the person who does not give a shit isn't online. To engage public opinion isn't authenticity, it is brand. Thinking out aloud is authentic until we steer the conversation.

Thanks Zacharias 🐝 Voulgaris. Given the number of posts on Bebee in just over a week compared to my 4 posts on Linkedin, i think this has become my primary network too. I was just curious if i could find some who started out with Bebee. Hopefully i will get to meet them like i met you.

Franci🐝Eugenia Hoffman , discussing quality of education maybe farfetched, many countries still struggle with access to education, although i did like the concept of Uganda, access to libraries and availability of internet go hand in hand with opening of schools.

nonetheless, the crisis passes, at a time of crisis, middle class is a proxie, people are actuallt poor - like in the present demonetization CityVP Manjit

Education as a saving grace in our times is akin to a savings and loans crisis.

being a proxy is their context. Maybe you went as a poor man, but you had access - being what they percieved you as. Caste system is still prevalent, but now there isnt an obligation to follow it strictly nor has it been eradicated, merely different options of convenience go in tandem for the people with authority. It is less visible, but it still exists. The rest suffer in every case. The only saving grace has been education..the only tool to endure and make it.

I think you will find Devesh that the super-rich have their systems of connection and the poor have their own system of connection, it is the middle class that have linked-in profiles and who end up shoulder rubbing in cocktail networking. If I attend a cocktail networking event, I usually attend as a poor person. They move away from me as fast as poor Indian street kids spot and encircle a middle class non-resident Indian visiting from London or Vancouver or San Jose. The genius of Douglas N. Adams when he wrote Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was laughing at the professional classes and here he created the B' Ark. The B-Ark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSid-p0Xlk0 Now lets get to the poor. My parents came to England because they were poor to do the nastiest jobs available, at a time when these jobs could not be filled - and it is because we had an inbuilt village network that people collaborated in ways that are imaginable to those who cite "social networking". There was a time when India networked on the basis of a caste system, though when I called it "cultural apartheid" in a talk show on Radio London, the diplomat from the Indian embassy vehemently rejected the proposition that the caste system was originated by the Aryan culture that set up a hierarchical system that kept the dark skinned Dravidians at the bottom of that hierarchy. I no longer can talk about the poor because I am not poor anymore - but is it not ironic that the proxies for the poor are still us, despite there being "social networking" how many of our connections are working class hero's? (Peasants as John Lennon sang).

or maybe the rich have people to do it for them, the poor have the bigger priority of survival.
