    MSCI ESG Research is seeking a Senior Associate to join our ESG Models team, which is responsible for developing new methodologies and innovative frameworks to quantify environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities.

    The selected candidate will support model enhancements for MSCI's existing ESG products and contribute to strategic innovation initiatives aimed at launching new products and datasets.


    An ideal candidate would possess strong quantitative and problem-solving skills as well as an interest in ESG issues, including how investors integrate ESG factors into their investment processes.

    Critical thinking, curiosity, and an ability to overcome data challenges with creative solutions are essential to thrive in this high impact role.

    Your key responsibilities

    • Contribute to the improvement and maintenance of MSCI's existing ESG methodologies and models for corporates, working closely with inhouse industry experts.
    • Contribute to the development of new analytical methodologies for ESG themes (e.g. climate change, human capital etc.) and for alternative asset classes such as private assets
    • Use statistical methods and programing to analyze, interpret, and visualize data
    • Implement, test and document new computations used in scoring models
    • Collaborate with other teams such as Data, Application Development etc. to deliver the developed solutions to clients
    • Communicate complex topics in a simple way to internal and external stakeholders not familiar with the topics
    Your skills and experience that will help you excel

    • 5+ years of fulltime professional experience in quantitative research, company analysis or data science role
    • Minimum of Bachelors' degree required; Advanced degree in related field (Finance, Sustainability, Statistics, Engineering, Business) or CFA is preferred
    • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and software development, particularly Python are a musthave. Familiarity with AI/ML techniques would be a plus.
    • Ability to overcome data quality challenges with creative solutions, including familiarity with alternative, unstructured data
    • Experience with sustainability and/or company fundamental analysis would be a plus.
    • Selfmotivated, proactive and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work as part of a multicultural and geographically distributed team
