    Head of Human Resources - Chennai, India - Planys Technologies

    Planys is a deep tech start-up revolutionizing infrastructure integrity and risk assessment. Planys specializes in smart underwater inspection solutions and sophisticated digital analytics and reporting of NDT data.

    Planys envisions to steer a new course in the maintenance and inspection industry with its disruptive innovations in the field of marine robotics, novel underwater NDT methods and AI enabled post-inspection analytical digital reporting dashboard.

    The HR Lead at Planys is an integral member of the support functions team and shall lead the HR function.

    He/She will play a key role in setting the vision and goals for the HR department at Planys.

    She/He shall work closely with the senior management of Planys to timely implement employee related policies / rules for code of conduct and procedures for internal controls.

    She/he will interact with all teams of Planys to ensure that relevant actions pertaining to employee recruitment, skill development and performance management are appropriately planned and executed.


    Responsibilities and Job Description:
    1) Processes and policies


    o Coordinate with the senior management team to implement new employee related policies and also improve the existing policies as and when needed.

    o Set internal and external procedures/rules to ensure strong governance of employee related activities.


    o Lead the HR department, set the vision and define goals both short term and long term in line with Planys vision.

    2) Recruitment

    o Responsible to lead the team and ensure that the recruitment needs of organisation are met in given timeframe.


    o Responsible for guiding the team in recruitment procedures timely and ensuring that company hiring protocols and timelines are followed.

    o Make the hiring process at Planys scalable to grow at a very high rate.

    3) Team building & Event Management


    o Build a strong work culture at Planys and take appropriate steps to improve the current workspace and work environment.

    o Address employees' grievances pertaining to work culture, environment, and employment terms.

    o To plan and get executed regular celebrations and events to strengthen employee engagement.

    4) Talent management

    o Prepare and implement appropriate training plan for new recruits as well as existing team members.

    o Builds leadership capability through coaching, advice and learning events and facilitates leadership development training.

    5) Performance Management


    o Responsible for appraisal cycle which includes maintaining and updating the appraisal process, conducting annual and half yearly performance reviews, goal setting.

    o Lead the organization in annual performance processes and merit reviews for appropriate employee populations. Determine how the process can be improved to meet stakeholder objectives. Reposition the process to stimulate more employee engagement and best align with the university's performance management strategy.

    6) Compliance

    o Maintain and update the Employee handbook, which enlists policies, rules and regulations pertaining to employees.

    o Ensure 100% compliance to statutory norms and adherence of employees to handbook


    o Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.

    o Managing adherence to compliance of wholly owned subsidiaries of the company in other countries.

    7) Admin and IT

    o Overlooking day-to-day office and company premises management in coordination with other teams.

    Preferred Qualification, Specialization. Experience for the position

    • Postgraduate in management or equivalent field with strong expertise in HR.
    • 8+ years as a Human Resource Manager / Lead.
    • Min 23 years' experience in leading the team.
    • Experience of working in a startup is a plus.
    • Strong Leadership & Team Management skills to motivate the team and foster a positive work environment across the company.
    • Knowledge & hands on experience of Statutory Compliances including Labour Laws & HR policies is must.
    • Clear communication skills to lead the organisational policies and articulate the ideas.
    • Strategic thinking & Decision-Making skills to create the future path of organisation.
    • Exceptional Interpersonal skills to influence key decision makers and establish strong interdepartmental & business relationships with all stakeholders.
    • Emotional Intelligence, Employee Counselling and Grievance redressal is a plus.
    • Well versed with Training & development vertical along with Performance Appraisals.
    • Technical competency to use HRMS & Hiring Tools.
    • Project Management Skills to lead current and future projects.

    • Integrity, honesty, and fairness are paramount.
    • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality output within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects (multi skilling).
    • Ability to present Planys in HR related events and platforms.
    • Decision Making skills to weigh various factors and to consider long term consequences.
