    Job Description:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL/MI Consultant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Managed Instances (MI) solutions in an Azure cloud environment. This position requires a deep understanding of SQL Server, MI, Azure cloud, Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and Windows/Non-Windows environments.

    Responsibilities:

    Architectural Design and Planning:

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, high-performance SQL Server and MI solutions in Azure.

    Develop architecture blueprints, roadmaps, and best practices for SQL Server and MI implementations.

    SQL Server and MI Deployment:

    Configure, deploy, and maintain SQL Server and MI instances in the Azure cloud, including Linux-based environments.

    Optimize database performance and ensure high availability.

    Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

    Design and maintain high availability solutions, including failover clustering and Always On Availability Groups, to minimize downtime.

    Develop and maintain robust Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) strategies for SQL Server and MI environments.

    Implement backup, replication, and failover solutions to ensure data integrity and system availability.

    Azure Cloud Expertise:

    Utilize Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, Azure VMs, and Azure Networking to build and maintain SQL Server and MI solutions.

    Leverage Azure security and compliance features to protect data and ensure regulatory compliance.

    Performance Tuning and Optimization:

    Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance using tools like SQL Profiler and Query Performance Tuning.

    Implement best practices for index optimization and query optimization.

    Archiving Process:

    Design and implement data archiving strategies to optimize database performance and manage data retention.

    Configuration of ETL Jobs:

    Configure and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs to ensure efficient data movement and transformation.

    Hardening:

    Implement security best practices and database hardening techniques to protect against vulnerabilities and threats.

    VM vs. PaaS Performance:

    Evaluate and make recommendations on whether to use Virtual Machines (VM) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings for SQL Server based on performance and cost considerations.

    Encryption Policies:

    Define and enforce encryption policies for data at rest and in transit to meet compliance requirements and security standards.

    OS Clustering:

    Implement and manage operating system clustering for Windows and Linux to enhance the availability and resilience of the database infrastructure.

    Patching:

    Establish a systematic patch management process for SQL Server instances to keep them up-to-date and secure.

    Security and Compliance:

    Ensure data security by implementing role-based access control, encryption, and auditing features in Azure and SQL Server environments.

    Stay current with security best practices and compliance requirements.

    Team Collaboration:

    Mentor and train team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, data engineers, and IT operations, to achieve project goals.

    Requirements:

    · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).

    · Extensive experience (8+ years) as a SQL/MI architect or database administrator.

    · Proven experience with SQL Server and SQL Managed Instances in Azure.

    · Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, including administration and troubleshooting.

    · Expertise in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.

    · Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) preferred.

    · Knowledge about other DBs i.e. Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL would be added advantage

    · Knowledge in T-SQL, PowerShell, and other scripting languages.

    · Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    · Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
