    Technical Project Manager (Cloud Migration and Support)

    Technical Project Manager (TPM) with

    10+ years


    of experience in leading and overseeing Cloud Migration projects with a primary goal to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the cloud while maintaining high levels of service quality, reliability, and security.

    TPM will be Cloud Agnostic and will be responsible for planning, coordination, communication, and technical oversight with a focus on Cloud, Infrastructure Professional and Managed Services

    Tools:
    Jira, Microsoft Project or Smartsheet, MS PPT, Excel (adv.) etc.


    Cloud Platforms and Services:
    Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure etc

    Cloud Migration

    Tools:
    AWS Migration Hub, Azure Migrate etc. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

    Tools:
    Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager etc.

    IT Service Management (ITSM)

    Tools:
    ServiceNow, Manage Engine SD Plus, Jira, Freshservice

    Collaboration and Communication

    Tools:
    Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Webex etc.

    Monitoring and Automation

    Tools:
    Datadog, New Relic, or Dynatrace, Manage Engine OpM, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Native monitoring services provided by cloud providers.

    Roles and Responsibilities


    Project Planning and Coordination:
    Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining the migration strategy, timeline, resources, milestones, and dependencies.
    Coordinate with stakeholders from different departments (IT, operations, finance, etc.) to align objectives and expectations.
    Establish communication channels and reporting mechanisms to keep all stakeholders informed about project progress.

    Manage the migration project end to end from pre-sales, effort estimation, proposal, customer interactions, contract sign off, resource planning and identification, kick off, project milestone tracking, risk and issue identification, delivery, project handover and operations sign off etc.

    Implementing strict access control mechanisms ensures that only authorized individuals can access sensitive data like multi-factor authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and least privilege access.

    Implementing robust data backup and disaster recovery plans ensuring that data can be recovered in the event of data loss or a security breach.

    Data protection

    Ensuring data protection and strict adherence to regulatory compliances such as HIPAA, implementing data security and privacy.

    Encrypting data both in transit and at rest, implementing DLP solutions to prevent sensitive data from being leaked or accessed by unauthorized parties.

    Monitoring and controlling data access, usage, and movement both within and outside the organization.


    Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
    Maintain comprehensive documentation of migration plans, processes, configurations, and post-migration support procedures. Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure that operational teams are equipped to manage and support the cloud environment effectively. Capture lessons learned and best practices for future reference and continuous improvement.


    Quality Assurance:
    Establish quality assurance processes to validate that migrated workloads meet performance, security, and compliance requirements. Conduct thorough testing, including functional, integration, and performance testing, to identify and address any issues before cutover. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of the migration and track ongoing performance post-migration.


    Change Management:
    Implement change management processes to coordinate and track changes to systems, applications, and configurations during the migration. Communicate changes effectively to stakeholders and end users, providing necessary training and support to facilitate adoption. Monitor the impact of changes on service performance and user experience, making adjustments as needed to minimize disruptions.


    Technical Oversight:
    Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, including architects, engineers, and developers. Review technical designs, configurations, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with best practices and organizational standards. Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate teams for resolution.


    Risk Management:
    Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the migration, such as data security, compliance, performance, and availability. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address unforeseen issues during the migration process. Regularly assess and reassess risk factors throughout the project lifecycle and adjust plans accordingly.


    IT Service Management (ITSM) Integration:


    Ensure that
    ITSM processes and tools are effectively integrated into the cloud environment to maintain service levels and support incident, problem, and change management.

    Collaborate with
    ITSM teams to adapt existing processes and workflows to accommodate cloud-based services and resources. Implement monitoring and automation tools to proactively manage cloud resources and optimize service delivery.


    Cloud Migration Strategy:


    Work closely with architects and technical teams to define the migration approach, considering factors such as workload prioritization, risk assessment, and cost optimization.

    Evaluate various cloud service providers (e.g.,

    AWS, Azure

    ) to select the most suitable platform based on organizational requirements. Define methodologies for migrating applications, data, and infrastructure to the cloud while minimizing disruption to business operations.
