    Description

    Job brief:

    We, at The Hosteller, are seeking an experienced/seasoned "legal/liaisoning officer or

    lawyer" who has exposure to and experience in corporate and commercial (including

    corporate secretarial) work, litigation or claims handling. He/she should have extensively

    worked in the real-estate and hospitality sector and is looking to now join the fastest growing

    backpacker hostel chain in India.

    The candidate would be responsible directly for (i) overseeing and facilitating the

    development and administration of lease deeds, operating & other contracts, etc. and (ii)

    managing and resolving legal issues arising operationally, as appropriate, and consistent with

    company policies.

    Job responsibilities:

    ● Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, land acquisition, litigation, monitoring,

    legal, industrial relations, govt liaison Ing, corporate affairs, government relations,

    operating licensing, etc.

    ● Draft, review, negotiate and advise on NDAs, confidentiality agreements, MOUs /

    LOIs, term sheets, notices, letter agreements, hotel management, license, and

    ancillary contracts with potential hotel partners

    ● Experience in sale agreements, deeds and abstracts of title for conversion from

    agriculture to non-agriculture land, title changes to determining real property

    ownerships

    ● Advise, collaborate and support the execution of various strategic projects involving

    key stakeholders in the business, including strategic partnerships, business

    innovation matters, and matters similar, to guide and support the business teams

    from a legal perspective.

    ● Draft, review, negotiate and advise the operations team on contracts and other legal

    matters arising from hotel operations, including ensuring compliance with legal

    and contractual requirements before hotel opening; act as a primary liaison

    ● Ensure that contracts adhere to the company's policies and standards and report

    material deviations for approval by the company's management

    ● Overseeing the administration of various documentation related to the uploading,

    updating, and maintenance of contractual terms, change of terms, owner/licensee

    information, and monitoring/tracking of contract status (such as licenses, lease

    deeds, etc.) to ensure accurate and timely tracking of key contract terms, conditions,

    changes, timelines, and other information

    ● Assist in coordinating response and settlement of legal disputes (e.g., debt recovery,

    breach of contract, court litigation, arbitration) including, when appropriate, the

    selection and supervision of external counsel

    This role may also be required to carry out additional tasks as directed by The Hosteller

    Management that is not detailed in this job description.

    Qualifications:

    ● Bachelor/master of law (LLM) from a reputable university

    ● Min. 3 years of solid experience in corporate and commercial law (licensing/real estate

    sector/sub-registrar office/law firm) having worked with clients

    ● Hospitality industry-related legal experience

    ● Excellent communication, negotiation & analytical skills

    ● Strong research and verbal and written communication skills

    ● Fluent in English/Hindi (spoken and written)

    ● Hardworking, strong legal drafting and negotiation skills, strong communication skills,

    well-organized, detail-oriented.
